Easter Cake

Here is an Easter Cake.  The design is from www.ifood.tv/blog/fondant-easter-cakes A wonderfully sweet lady asked me to make her an Easter Cake for her and her family.  This is the design she choose.  It is so cute; she picked it out with her granddaughter in mind I belive.  She said that everyone loved.  My only problem with the cake is that my letter are way to big.  So I'll have to invest in some new ones.  The flavors are carrot cake for the bottom tier with amaretto buttercream filling and the top is chocolate with amaretto buttercrem.

Kitty Themed Cake

I love these challenging cakes but I'd really love to know how to model animals easier.  This was my second attempt on the cat.  The first try was pathetic.  I made this cake back in March and barely remember the flavors.  I belive they were chocolate cake on the bottom tier with raspberry filling and chocolate buttercream and almond cake for the top with almond buttercream filling.  All covered with fondant.  The cat is made out of rice krispy treats and fondant.

I started out with design from the Pink Cake Box http://blog.pinkcakebox.com/pair-of-cats-birthday-cake-2010-04-17.htm and this is what I could do.  Their kitties are obviously much better.

Here is another shot of the cake.  I started baking the cake on Friday night.  Didn't have enough butter so I only had enough ingredients for the chocolate cake.  Got up early to go buy butter and made the vanilla cake and then started filling and decorating Saturday morning.  Party was at 4pm and finished around 2pm.  If I had a little more time I would have prettied up with borders.

I used the design I saw on the Frosted Garden blogspot http://frostedgarden.blogspot.com/.  She has fantastic designs
This cake is for my daughter's 4th birthday.  She likes Yo Gabba Gabba; so I started to make the character's during the week.
The bottom tier is chocolate cake with milk chocolate mousse filling and chocolate buttercream.  The top tier is vanilla cake with strawberry fruit filling and strawberry mousse filling with champagne buttercream.  All covered in fondant.
This baby shower cake was made for a work shower at my sister's work.  The belly is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and the boobs are chocolate with chocolate buttercream covered in the fondant.  This design I saw on Dawn's Flicker page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/its-all-about-the-cake/

I made this cake for a purse party at my house.  The bottom tier is carrot cake and the top is lemon spongecake.  The filling and frosting is That's the Best Frosting I've Had, a Tasty Kitchen recipe.  There are chocolate shavings around the cake and some on top with mini whopper robin eggs.  This cake design I saw on Sweet CuddleCakes http://sweetcuddlecakes.blogspot.com/2009/04/easter-eye-candy.html

Bird Hunting

This is a cake that I made for my co-worker's husbands birthday.  His birthday falls on valentine's day so a heart shape seemed appropriate.  He likes to go bird hunting.  This is triple chocolate cake with oreo mousse filling, covered with chocolate buttercream then fondant.  All decorations are made out of fondant.

This was a baby shower cake I did a while ago and realized that I didn't post it.  Red Velvet cake with vanilla buttercream filling; covered in fondant.  The blocks are chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream covered in fondant.  The booties are made out of 1/2 gumpaste and 1/2 fondant.  The flowers are made out of fondant as well.  This design was found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/14499447@N08/favorites/page93/
